I was diagnosed pityriasis rosea two months ago, the dermatologist prescribed me to use betamethasone valerate, a steriodal anti-inflammatory. Some of the patches in my breast and abdomen are healed but the mother herald was not, and now I see some patches slowly up to my foot, arms and legs. Can pityriasis rosea last more than 2 to 3 months? How can I prevent it to stop spreading?

Hello, Jase. Thank you for your message.
Pityriasis rosea is a common viral disease that usually affects individuals between 10-35 years of age. The rash typically lasts six to nine weeks, rarely extending longer than 12 weeks. Symptoms may be reduced with topical treatment or taking extra precautions to prevent overheating. We have an active thread on our site about pityriasis rosea that might be helpful.
