Castor oil packs can be used to treat everything from uterine fibroids to PMS. I have been using them recently, but have stopped. I did not stop because I didn't think this was working, rather, because I just can't bear to do it anymore. Here are the steps I had to take:
1) soak wool cloth in castor oil
2) put wool cloth on stomach (if it was a pre-soaked wool cloth, I would pull it from the fridge and put it on -- yikes!)
3) wrap stomach in saran wrap (no, I am not kidding here -- it is to keep the castor oil pack in one place and to ensure the oil did not get on my clothes)
5) take off pad, wrap and castor oil pack
6) make water & baking soda mix, dip towel in mix, wipe off extra castor oil from stomach with wipe (this kinda works, in my opinion)
So, after reading this, you probably have a better idea as to why I may not do this anymore. I cannot speak to whether or not this worked for me. My PMS symptoms were dramatically less after doing this, but I was also doing other detox tasks during the time I was doing this.

I started using castor oil and it has dramatically reduced my PMS symptoms. I am not kidding. However, i don't go through the whole ritual of the wrap. i don't have the time to clean up the mess or the time to lay around. What i do is rub castor oil around my midsection, front and back, and it has cut my cramping and pain down 90-95%! I found it to be a great moisturizer as well. I had lots of bumps on my legs and tried every moisturizer known to man, even pure shea butter and nothing has worked better than castor oil. it will forever be a staple item in my household.

Thanks. I will check that out. Nope. It was totally at the same time. Maybe if I muster up the strength I will try it again. If so, I will let you know.

Hey Joanna, that's a whole lot to do to relieve PMS and I appreciate you sharing.
In a previous post, I shared that magnesium has helped me significantly. There's no soaking, wrapping, wool, saran wrap, dipping, dripping or drying. It takes literally 5 seconds, is inexpensive and has helped other women I know. If you'd like more info on its benefits, please check out this link:

An important note that someone related to me -- be sure to get enough calcium when taking magnesium.
And Joanna, was there a point where you weren't on the detox and the castor oil treatments were working?
