Last night was the first time that I had been back to Cancer Treatment Center of America (CTCA) in a very long time. I had a feeling that something was up for the past week.
The other night I had a sore throat and horrible headache. As the night progressed, the chills set in. Soon, I started coming down with a fever. By morning the fever was up to 102 degrees. I took an IB Profun and the fever drastically reduced. I took a nap and by the time I woke up I felt fine.
A few hours later, I started feeling like the fever was back. Sure enough the thermometer read 102 degrees again. The care manager wanted me to go in to get checked out. Usually, a fever means that there is some sort of infection. With cancer patients they have to be extra cautious.
She checked my bloodwork from the last time I had infusion and my white blood cells were on the verge of being a little low. Ann Marie drove me to CTCA and we went immediately to the in patient rooms. Within twp hours I received medication, a prescription and was sent on my way. They said if the fever came back today then to come back to CTCA.
Fortunately, I woke up with the fever, but by mid-afternoon it seemed to be going down. It’s now around 99.5 degrees. Let’s hope the prescription helps and I kick this thing!
