Hi Susan - Yes, I know Greg and Cheryl-Anne, and I worked on the press release regarding the situation that went before the FDA. Glad to hear closer ties are being established with Roswell. If you do a search through EmpowHER you will find several articles I've done about CML and you can read more about my advocacy work for CML patients here: http://www.1000women.com/users/PatElliott
April 24, 2011 - 9:32pmI live in the Phoenix, Arizona area, and am looking forward to the September opening of the new BannerMD Anderson Hospital here which will have a strong Leukemia Department that works directly with the exceptional group based at the main campus in Houston.
Take care,
Pat

Hi Again Pat I would love to hear your story when you have time....happy for your area to get an offspring of MD Anderson....they are a machine for sure....my friend from Ohio who spoke before the FDA last March goes there once a month for Dr. Cortez (who is amazing a great friend/collegue of my doc at Roswell) meant him in DC as he spoke also that day....such a great man.....but I know MD Anderson is just so massive a know a few who say they feel at times they get lost....I think tha itt is just the beast of these damn diseases and what they do to our minds thru all of these poisioneous damn bugs in us but helpful treatments at times...hope that makes some kind of chemo brain crazy sense....God Bless Pat....love chatting with you love to hear more of course! I will be posting some pics soon when I can figure out more of this great technology I have gotten lately and trying to learn to use and to think I was a law clerk back in the dark ages....LOL

Anon - Congratulations and happy anniversary! Yes there are many CML survivors out there, including me. I suggest you visit the National CML Society website if you are in the US, which you can find at http://www.nationalcmlsociety.org/, and on Facebook, to connect with fellow CML survivors. Our numbers are growing every single day.

Hello Pat....interesting you did not mention you had posted on my empowHer site last March just before we went to speak in DC before the FDA re: Research Trial Drugs and one special one which we were fighting for and you did a per article for this? How long have you been a survivor?...I did read your story somewhat but you do not go into detail? as I did in my story.....my story was from day one...of course people don't get that deadly dxd today if dxd in CML and not AML etc.....are you by chance on Gleevec? your post back then and now that I went back on to bring it up perplexed me a little?...probably just read wrong....again, would love to hear your complete story!! God Bless have a great night

Hi Pat my name is Susan Carrow, thank you for your post and oh my gosh I know Greg Stephens very well who is the MAN for the CML Society of the US...he is due to come to Buffalo, NY where I am from the end of May as we are proposing to get connected here at Roswell Park Cancer Institute....really looking forward to getting that off the ground up and running.....I have been talking to Greg since he started up in the U.S.....I was introduced to him only by phone/e-mail by Cheryl-Anne Simeaou last March 2010, after her and I and another CML survivor went to DC to speak before the FDA for a Research Trial Drug contemplating passage....my doctor at Roswell is head of the Leukemia Dept. and is getting things set up to welcome Greg and get things going here hopefully....where are you located? Again, thank you for replying to my post and look forward to chatting with you in the future.....do you know Greg?
April 24, 2011 - 8:41pmHope you had a blessed Easter with your family....it was gorgeous here in the Buffalo area!
