This past week was a whirlwind. Started off with a CT scan regarding my tonsils and ended with thyroid testing. A multi-nodular goiter was discovered pretty much by sheer chance. I have further testing this week to make sure it isn't cancerous. My doctor is 99% sure I'm completely fine. I'll feel better when he's 100% sure. That said, all this testing has me longing for the days of simply dreading a tonsillectomy! I still have an appointment for that next week.
I feel a bit like the lame racehorse in the BodyMedia FITness challenge. I started off strong but all of this health stuff has tripped me up more than I thought it would. I do encourage you to read the posts by the other bloggers because they are showing great examples of what real athletes can do with the CORE armband. I wish I was setting new personal best records for steps, minutes of activity, and great sleep. Instead, I'm moving as much as I can and resting more than I wish I needed to during this challenge. The visual reminder of the armband on my arm each day keeps me pushing forward. It's a constant reminder that slacking on accountability right now isn't going to help my health one bit. Mentally, I'm in a very positive place even though my body is a bit worn out!
I've lost almost nine pounds during the challenge (I'm fluctuating between 185-186). I fully admit that this largely due to limited appetite from back to back courses of antibiotics. I'll be done with the medication tomorrow and hope to get some real energy back soon! I'm still eating clean healthy foods. I'm also exercising as much as I can without wearing myself out. Light weightlifting and walking are what I'm sticking with these days.
We have one week left in this challenge. I'm going to finish strong!
BodyMedia FIT automatically tracks the calories burned during your daily activities — from pumping iron to using an iron — and monitors the quality of your sleep, an important factor in weight loss. Add in the easy-to-use food log and you have the information you need to improve your weight loss.
The 3 part system includes:
1. An Armband that automatically captures data
2. An optional Display device or free downloadable mobile apps that give you up-to-the-minute readings throughout the day
3. An online Activity Manager* that analyzes raw data, allows you to log food and presents info in an easy-to-understand way (*subscription required)
I encourage you to take the BodyMedia FITness challenge with me! You can purchase an armband through EmpowHer. You can learn the truth about the lifestyle choices you make throughout the day and how they affect your health.

Just want you to know - I came to your blog, looking to listen to a story about a real person, I can't relate at all to any REAL athletes! We're similar in age, and weight! So keep going!! Wishing you the best!

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that you will receive good news that the goiter is non-cancerous.
A strong positive mental attitude just might be the best benefit of participating in this fitness challenge.
