Hello,nice to meet you all.
I had my thyroids removed just over a year a go,I have had trouble getting the meds right but slowly getting there.
I had Mirena IUD removed a few months ago after having it over 4 years,(I had it to control heavy bleeding)I found out it was the cause of a lot of my medical problems, weight gain, cysts on my left ovary, breast lump, and my thyroid being removed, now I am trying to get my hormones sorted out after Mirena mucked them up totally.
I know some women do ok on mirena, I thought it was the best thing for the first few years until I realised what it was doing to me and then went to the doctor and got it out straight away,I feel much better now all though I havnt lost any weight yet,Im working on that, its very hard to get it off.
I gained 2 stone on mirena, before that I stayed at the same weight no matter what I ate all my life, never had a problem with weight,I look like Im 6 months pregnant because of the bloating and Im still depressed about my weight.
I go through the Mirena crash still, I hope it goes away real quick.
Any how if you are interested in reading my full story and that of other women with mirena problems and the horrific things(perforated Uterus,IUD lost in their body, tubal pregnancies, death,it goes on and on) that have happened to them ,have a look at my Mirena help site below...

Well my story is that I had mirena for about a year ago and first of all I have a tilted uterus and the pain was extreme to have it put in. They dont tell you how much it will hurt. Then i had continus spoting and bleeding for the first 3 months. What a joy that is. Not. Then torward the on year mark I started having low blood pressure. This continured on for a few months. I had went to the doctor had a bunch of blood work done and everytime it all came back fine. He kept telling me to just increase my salt intake and water. Well I did and nothing still. So i started to think about what could be different about me and it was the mirena. I'm 33 and always been pretty healthy. Then to top it off i started feelling like i was mentally going carzy. Like i needed to go to amental hospital. No joke my husband was so worried. I was hearing stuff and just an emotional wreck. The doctor told me it wasnt my mirena and that i should just take other pills to counter act what was happening. Bull crap!!! After arguing with the gyno I finally got it taken out right there. Within that week my bp was normal agian and the mind at peace.

My story is very similar to yours. I'm glad you made a full recovery from the ravages of the Mirena. I had it for about a year and got it to decrease my heavy periods that contributed to my anemia. From the 3rd week of having it, I had trouble with pain during intercourse, constant bleeding(not spotting) with only a 1 or 2 day break at a time, weight gain (that I'm still trying to lose), mood swings (crying for no reason) and depression. The doctor argued with me that mirena was not causing my weight gain or mood swings and that the pain would stop. Every time I went to the doctor throughout that year, I was reassured that it is different from person to person and that I needed to give it (first) 6 weeks, (second) 6 months and (finally) a year for the side effects to subside. Yes, they do tell you the side effects up front, but immediately follow that up with "its very rare" and reassure you its unlikely that you will experience any of them. So trusting my doctor over my own intuition, I kept waiting. Finally when I had enough (and went to a different gyno), she was able to remove it and also gave me a pap that returned as abnormal. When I went for the follow up, I had an infection because the constant bleeding had caused the pH level in my uterus to become too alkaline and I was prescribed antibiotics. While my state of mind has returned to normal, my weight and thyroid function has not. I am on a very strict diet and take daily walks yet I have only lost 7 lbs in 5 months. I have never had trouble getting rid of unwanted weight prior to this. I am losing my motivation because of the lack of results. I hope I can get my hormones right after this crazy ordeal, so I remain optimistic. I just hope my experiences can help others to reconsider getting it. Its really not worth the trouble.

I had my Mirena for 19 months and it was a nightmare. Getting it in place was not that painful but as soon as I got it I started feeling dizzy at times, frequent headaches, insomnia, joint pain and bled on and off for 8 weeks. After a couple of months it all went away and I thought ,"finally my body is getting use to it" NOT!!!! That's when I started to feel tired and cranky, developed cystic acne, gained 21 pounds incredibly fast and had abdominal pain frequently. THINGS I HAVE NEVER HAD BEFORE!!!! After a year of having the Mirena I finally started to loose most the weight and the acne was gone. That was when I started feeling pain during ovulation, the abdominal pains were more frequent, my libido was down and I started to loose my hair very quickly. I have always had a lot of hair and I have never seen my hair fall in such quantities!!!! Since August I have lost more than 25% of my hair!!! I started to see my scalp and that was really scary. I had my MIRENA REMOVED On Nov 18th. I am now using special products and vitamins to help my hair grow back! I am noticing that it is falling a lot less. It took me a while to realised that all this changes in my body were because of the Mirena. I WILL NEVER USE SOMETHING LIKE THIS AGAIN!!! It might work for some but for others it is too risky!! They should informed us better so we can make better choices. For me Mirena was the worst decision ever! I felt much better the same day I got it OUT!!!

I have had the mirena for 4 years now. I have had severe abdominal pain for the past few days which started while having sex with my fiance. Im worried it has displaced into my uterus or something. Anyone else have something similar happen? If so what was the end result.

I had Mirena put in one year ago. Was happy...My peroid was getting lighter every month.
October 19, 2011 - 4:06amSix months after that I start having problems with my bowel, frequent loose and broken stools, plus nausea. Doctors were saying it's may be some virus, and two months after all this struggling with my bowel I start feeling very weird. I lost three kilos without any dieting ,was quite happy BUT got snaking hands, heart palpitatins, feeling weak physicaly, hard to fall asleep.Waking every morning with puffy watery eyes and the strangest thing when i'm squatting my legs I can't get up on my feet from the ground. Start searching on the internet what's wrong with me. Discovered: All this symptoms might be related to thyroid problems. So, yesterday went to doctor and asked for thyroid blood test. Today got phone call, come urgently regarding my test. Guess what? I've got overactive thyroid !Why???? Never had it in my life before and no one in my family too. Now got to take a hadnfull of tablets every day for probably a year or so.
Thank you guys for sharing your storys. I'm going to rid-off Mirena asap.
Next week going to take x-ray of my glands and hopefully nothing serious, God pleeeease...
