For the last several months (approximately 3-4), I have had a never ending battle with what I think are yeast infections. I've noticed that it usually comes on about a week to 10 days before my period, subsides when my period begins and on an occasion or two, has come back right after my period. Using an over the counter yeast infection treatment has helped but it keeps coming back! It's driving me insane and I am so sick of dealing with it. I've got an appointment scheduled with my very busy gynecologist but I'm at the point now that I want to claw my insides out and am beginning to worry that it is something else. As a side note, I am diabetic. While my blood sugar seems to be fairly well controlled, I'm wondering if there is something in my diet that is making these infections (if they are in fact yeast infections) come back?

Anon - It's good that you have the appointment with your doctor. There are many things, in addition to yeast infections, that can cause a constant chronic itch. You'll find more information here: https://www.empowher.com/menopause/content/dealing-chronic-itch-%E2%80%98down-there%E2%80%99
Will you let us know what you learn at your appointment? We wish you the best.
