Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for your question.

Trichomoniasis is considered the most common curable sexually transmitted disease. It is caused by infection with a protozoan parasite called Trichomonas vaginalis.

Diagnosis is confirmed by a blood test. Some states, such as Connecticut and New York, offer testing centers. Contact your primary care physician to schedule an appointment for a physical exam to evaluate symptoms and order the blood test.

Regards,
Maryann
