I can't seem to find any answers about specifically what to avoid and what to eat. Every single site falls back on that very length video. I have forgetten what it's called. It's terrible and it's a sales pitch.

Hello Anon
Thank you for writing.
Diet, due to volvulus, has to be in small portions, first of all, so as not to force the body into working hard to digest. So no matter what you eat, it has to be a small portion.
Spicy foods and hot foods should be avoided. And foods that are very high in fiber should also be taken in low doses as high fiber foods can make the body work harder to digest.
A bland diet is suggested. We have an article devoted to a bland diet including menu suggestions. Please cut and paste here: https://www.empowher.com/media/reference/bland-diet
My only other suggestion would be to see a Registered Dietitian (RD), and I would assume that there are a few RD's associated with your hospital and/or doctor's office. Can your physician provide a referral for you? Now that we are talking about it, it makes perfect sense for an RD to be a part of your team of experts helping you through the recovery process. Please ask for a referral.
