What do the bites of bird mites look like?

My family have large round sores that never heal. These sores turn black, itch often. Black specs like pepper and white eggs come out of the sores frequently. We feel a sting when we are bitten but can't identify the pest. We had birds in our attic and have sprayed for mites. We have been placed on antibiotics which helped but didn't heal them. Our family Dr. keeps treating us for staph but nothing has helped. The family dogs seem to have this condition to. It seems to be affecting our brains and energy levels to. Where do we go from here?

Hello [email protected]

Thank you for writing.

We don't have photos on this site but bird mite bites tend to be red but can also have black or white specks.

This sounds alarming. My advice is to have pest control do an investigation of your home and also have your home tested for mold and other allergens. One company may be able to do it all for you.

Seek help from a dermatologist rather than your family doctor. You may need to being the whole family in or exams and testing.

These methods may cost more money than you'd like but if the whole family is suffering, there may be environmental issues in the house or some sort of contagion.

I do hope you get to the bottom of this, it sounds really uncomfortable. Please keep us posted.
Best,
Susan
