I recently found out that my birth father has polycystic kidney disease. Now I'm wondering what the chances are of me or my daughter's having it, and what it's all about. Anyone have any expiriencing with this disease? My only health issues right now are high bp, acid reflux, flank and lower back pain. And petechiae.

Like ADPKD, autosomal recessive PKD (ARPKD) is an inherited disease.Parents would not be at increased risk to have additional children with PKD. But individuals with PKD have a 50/50 chance of passing the gene on to their children.

Hello and welcome to EmpowHer,
High blood pressure is a common symptoms of PKD.
Below I have pasted a link to an article that talks more in-depth about the disease.

I suggest that you see a doctor to discuss your symptoms and your family history with PKD.
