Q:

UTI?

Hi

My boyfriend and I have had sex recently but a few days later I have the sudden urge to pee constantly even if it's a little trickle. Also, when I wipe it's slimy like mucus and my vagina is really itchy.

There is no burning sensation or blood discharge but can it still be a UTI?

My boyfriend and I had sex frequently the past week (we had a condom). Is this the reason why I may have a uti (this has happened before when we use to have sex frequently last year)? Are there any home remedies rather than taking an antibiotic?

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER. The answer is No, antibiotics is the only way to treat a UTI. Over the counter medication can only help alleviate symptoms, but will not treat the infection and will continue coming back until it's treated with antibiotics. Hope this helps.

Best,

Daisy
