my mom and dad live in mesa, Arizona during the winter time. well my mom has been having a lot of chest pain lately and her regular doctor thinks it's angina and she's been taking these nitro pills for the pain and she said they give her just awful headaches. I feel so bad for her and it's so hard since I live in Ohio and I can't get back to arizona right now to help.

Anyway, her regular doctor she sees when she's in mesa said she needs to see a specialist for her heart to get it all checked out even better than he can do in his office, and she's looking for a place to go for some help. since they snowbird in Arizona they are not really familiar with heart hospitals or anything. I was searching on line for her tonight and found this website and well I figured it's worth a shot to see if anyone here knows of a place she might try. mom said her doctor gave her a few names but she's just not sure if any is better than the others. thank you to anyone who can help me and my mom too. Tina,

Having been a long-distance daughter for much of my life, I know exactly what you are feeling. It's so hard to help when you want to be there and you just can't.

Does your mom have any specific insurance issues? Or can she choose her own doctor and hospital based on her preferences?

Do you or she need more information on angina? Please don't hesitate to ask if there's something specific we can research for you.

Hi Tina--

Sorry to hear about your mom's angina. I found a few good choices for her:

Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, Phoenix
1111 East McDowell Road
Phoenix, AZ 85006
(602) 239-2000
Banner Samaritan is ranked 40th for the best cardiac hospitals in the US.
In Mesa there are:

Banner Baywood Heart Hospital
6750 East Baywood Avenue
Mesa, AZ 85206
(480) 854-5000

Banner Desert Medical Center
1400 South Dobson Road
Mesa, AZ 85202
(480) 512-3000

All three are Banner Hospitals-- their site is bannerhealth.com She should take a look into them and see which one she likes best.

Good Luck to your mom!
