Okay so I'm 17. The last day of my period was 24th of july, I had sex with my boyfriend 4 weeks ago (30th july) and we used a condom, he finished inside it but it was intact. My period was due 21st of august (my cycle is 34 days on average), and it's now three days late. I've been getting period signs like light cramping, light back pain, bloating on the 20th aug. On 12th and 13th aug I've had brown-red spotting, and it wasn't really light. My breasts don't hurt at all and usually when my period had to come they were hurting a bit. My tummy hurts and it seems a bit swollen or am i just imagining things, I think I am.. Also I have like this blobs of sticky white discharge, but no unusual smell. I've been under lots of stress because of this pregnancy scare and my grandmother is really sick. So yeah, LOTS of stress. I took a HPT a week ago and it was negative. Could I be pregnant? Or am I ovulating late because of the stress? Or is my period just delaying because of the stress?

Hello pumpkinpie42,
You tested too early. You can retest once your period is late beyond one week.
Stress is one of the most common causes of a missed period. Usually when stress delays your period, it is because you were under stress around the time you would have ovulated. If ovulation is delayed, your period is also delayed. Worrying can cause your period to be a day or two late, but not much later than that.
Try to relax. Your period may start in a day or two.

Thank you, I'm trying to calm down for now and I'm going to take another test if nothing changes. But based on all those symptoms could I be pregnant? Like, how big are the chances?

Hi,
I think these sound like premenstrual symptoms and there is little to no chance that you are pregnant. Condoms are about 85% effective for birth control. With careful use, such as using it from start to finish, they are even more effective.
