Pericarditis is basically swelling and irritation of the pericardium.
The most common cause of Pericarditis is viral infection spread from contact with anything that is infected with the virus. However Pericarditis is not always caused by a virus. It can also be caused by chest injuries, heart attack, or varies diseases to name a few.
