Hello,
I was on my 6th day of my cycle (just finishing my period). The condom split so I took the first tablet of postinor2 2 hours later (1am). We then had unprotected sex 6 hours later (7am). I took the 2nd postinor tablet 3 hours later(10am).
8 days later I had heavy bleeding lasting 4 days. Firstly, is this a sign that postinor worked?
Since then i have had no sign of my period.
In the last 2 weeks (aboit 22nd day of cycle) I have had the flu and been unwell. This has all made me quite anxious.
My period cycle is quite irregular.
Thanks for your help in advance

Hi,
ECP can cause your period to be delayed, have a lighter or heavier flow. If you don't get your period, you may need to test for pregnancy.

Hi,
If you had bleeding 5-7 days after taking emergency contraception, that generally indicates it has worked. But it can disrupt your cycle. It's not unusual for the next period to be late. You can test for pregnancy to ease your mind if it does not come in a week or two.

thank you helena! i don't think i'm pregnant because i too the pills just for precaution eventho it was just an oral sex and i had my pants on all the time. and i've no symptoms of early pregnancy at all. i just get paranoid even more because i haven't gotten my period but i've read it's normal to get my period late after taking the pills. i just need someone to knock some sense out of me that there's no way i could be pregnant because there was no ejaculation in my vagina

Hi.
Postinor is strong medicine and should be taken in emergencies only. There was no risk of pregnancy and no reason to take emergency contraception. You can't get pregnant from oral sex.

do most of the women who took the pills experienced this? do some of them even missed their periods for the whole month? it's completely normal because the pills contained high dosage of hormones right?

Many women get their period at the expected time. Others, don't. I don't know percentages. Call your doctor if you are concerned about when your period will arrive.
