My grandmother died from a massive heart attack, should I be worried?

My grandmother had a massive heart attack at 65. I have a concern for myself and my mother that it could happen to one of us. Is this genetic? How can I prevent this from happening to me?

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER. If you have a family history of the disease your chances are higher. But it does not mean you will have one too. You just need to be more aware of the risks and your health. Avoid smoking, limit alcohol intake, eat well, exercise and yearly check ups with a physician.

Hope this has helped?

Best,

Daisy
