Q:

Is it normal to bleed a few days before expected period?

I recently went on the depo shot. I am scheduled for my second shot on the 19th of September. My expected period is next week as well. I have experienced light to moderate bleeding the past three days. It’s red to light brown in color.

I have not been sexually active in the past three months.

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing!

Your experience is perfectly normal. Periods can be irregular for the first few months after starting this method of birth control. You may become quite regular or find that your period becomes light or stops altogether. All are different and have different experiences.
