Hi. I am on my third week of my pack of Tri-Sprintec, its the walmart brand of ortho tri cyclen lo, and I missed the 3rd and 4th day but took the pills this morning. Its been such a busy week and I cannot remember if I had taken mondays pill on tuesday (and forgot to take tuesdays pill as well.) If I didnt take a pill on tuesday and my husband came in me, whats the likelyhood that im pregnant?

How high of a chance do you think I have in conceiving if I had unprotected sex for an entire week without birth control during ovulation BUT started birth control the same day I "supposidly" was at my peak fertitlity day? Doesn't birth control start working within 30 minutes of consuming the pill?

I finished my last pack and went a week without taking my next months pack (it was being mailed). I have been on birth control for a few years now.

Birth control does not work within 30 minutes of taking it. We can't handicap your odds of getting pregnant. Every time you have unprotected sex you risk pregnancy, that's the bottom line. So you'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Good luck.

Hi Anonymous,
When you miss too many pills in a row and stop taking them, you should always start a new pack (Sunday start) after you start your period. You should never continue to use your old pack of Pills.

If you have any concerns, you can call your Physician or Pharmacist to be sure when you should restart taking your specific Pill as some Pills are different than others. Remember you have a risk of becoming pregnant also when you miss your pills and should use a back up method such as condoms. For more information, please review these articles: Missing Birth Control Pills and Concerned About Pregnancy: Q&A and and Oops! Missed Birth Control Pill Advocacy Sheet.

I hope this helps.

Hello. I missed my pill for 4 days and got my period again, after having my period 2 weeks ago... I'm not sure what's the procedure now. Should I finish the pack I had started (starting again on a sunday), or should I start a new pack?

Hi Concerned C,

The waiting game is your best bet in this situation. You should wait to take a pregnancy test until after you miss your period but in this case, I think it is a little complicated to tell since you are break-through bleeding.

Wait a few more weeks to take another pregnancy test OR you can make an appointment with your physician for a blood test. Can you keep us updated?

Good luck,
Missie

Thanks miscortes,

The waiting game is the hardest to play.... I will have to wait and see whats the situation will keep you guys updated ;) I think i will wait to see if i have missed a period and just take pregnancy precautions until i know for sure. My hubby and I werent expecting this at all but if i we will be happy.but short of abstinence nothing can ensure 100percent birth control rate

Thx Missie

Thanks for the update. Isn't it peculiar how you find out your true feelings in situations like this. You were probably getting used to the idea of "what if." Is your husband disappointed too? These times can be good for communicating with your partner about goals and dreams. I hope it strengthens your relationship.
Take care,
Christine
