Yes, it is possible. It depends on your personal cycle (If you ovulated or not) and how long you have been taking the pill. The package insert will tell you all you need to know and if you are worried, see a doctor.

Thank you! I just wanted to clarify though. Since today is the 26th, my period would be due on the 31st. Would that be still within the 6 days before my period? Or did that reach 5 days before? Since I tested this morning and it said negative, I am assuming I'm probably in the clear. Even though I have been feelings symptoms, so I was concerned.

I had unprotected sex a couple times during the first week of the pill...I used the sunday start.
I recently decided to stop taking the pill because I have been feeling pregnant. I am 6 days away from my expected period. On 7 and 6 days before my period I have woken up with nausea that lasts all day. But no other symptoms.
I decided to use first response early result test today (6 days before period) but it came out negative. Do you know how accurate those tests are? And is it possible to still be pregnant at this point?
Last time I was unprotected was 3 weeks ago...

hI,
I have been on birth control for almost 3 weeks now. I was a sunday starter and began taking them after my period on May 8th.Over the 3 week time span, I have missed 5 of my birth control pills: a Friday & Saturday dose in week 1, a Monday & Wednesday dose during week 2, and a Sunday dose during week 3, and had not doubled up on the doses.Mind you I was ovulating on the Monday & Wednesday I had missed the birth control pill during week 2. I spoke to my pharamcist & she said I should stop taking my birth control until I know for sure if I am pregnant or not. My questions is Now that I stopped taking them daily, I now have spotting or breakthrough bleeding and my reg scheduled period is due Monday the 30th. When should I be expecting a "missed period" for a pregnancy test to be accurate? Thank you so much!

Hi there,
My girlfriend is currently on birth control (for about two years) and always takes it on time. However, she missed two pills in a row in her second week (days 16 and 17) and we had unprotected sex on day 17. She took two pills on day 18 and 19, and I was nowhere near ejaculation before I pulled out. This is the only time we've had sex this month.
I'm just wondering what kinds of risks there are? She had some spotting 3 days after (day 19/20) missing the pills and making them up which lasted for a few days, however, we figured it was just breakthrough bleeding. Her expected period is coming up this Tuesday/Wednesday. Hoping I can get some sort of reassurance - will I just have to wait and see if she gets a period? She has no symptoms of pregnancy so far (it has been one week since the sex).

Also, I had the post above...I took a pregnancy test during that withdrawal bleed to make sure the incident on the 16 of April didn't cause me to get pregnant. The test came out negative for that.

Thank you for your question. Sounds like your situation has resolved itself--you did what you were supposed to according to the pill pack. Try to be extra diligent from now on about not forgetting to take your pills. This will help you not agonize about if something you did could put you at increased risk.

no actually, the pregnancy test I took would only let me know if I was pregnant from the first time I had sex. What I am trying to figure out is if the two missed pills in week two (that I did make up) will have any effect on when I had unprotected sex at the end of my sugar pill week? I know people say week 1 and week 3 are crucial but since I missed those pills in week 2 does that affect the rest of my cycle? I used backup during the 7 days following the missed pills (week 3) but not during the placebo week. Any more help would be appreciated!

Hi. I have a similar question. I missed two pills in my last cycle, on April 15 and 16 (which was the 2nd week in the pack). I also had unprotected sex one of these days. I took 2 pills on the 17th and 18th like the instructions said. I had a withdrawal bleed which began on April 25 and lasted through April 28. I had unprotected sex again on Saturday, April 30 and once more on Sunday May 1, after the bleeding had stopped, but resumed my new pill pack on that Sunday May 1. I guess my question is since I did double up on pills on April 17 &18 and actually waited about 14 days before having sex again, was I still protected? I had 7 days worth of pills before the withdrawal bleed, but I was wondering if I could have gotten pregnant on Apr. 30/May 1? Just wondering if those missed pills in the last cycle could have caused me to get pregnant during the sugar pills?
