Thank you very much for being helpful! I had an appointment yesterday with another dr she explained everything even the hiv test she said its something they take very seriously and that it was Negative. She also explained ahe didnt understand why the GYN dignosed me with Trichomoniasis because if i had it the blood test would have shown and the test was negative. So i guess now i need to find a new Dr? Anyways thanks a lot! You helped ease my mind

Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community.

You don't have to wait for your doctor to call you. Feel free to call your doctor's office and tell them you have received your results and would like to have them explained.

Here's what you should know with regards to your healthcare provider: The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) say that it is essential for health care providers to:

  • Explain the meaning of the reactive test result in simple terms, avoiding technical jargon.
  • Emphasize the importance of confirmatory testing and schedule a return visit for the confirmatory test results.
  • Underscore the importance of taking precautions to avoid the possibility of transmitting infection to others while awaiting results of confirmatory testing.

I hope this helps.

Be well,

~Gillette
