I had open heart surgery 5/24/2011-Mitral valve repair & have had Pericarditis since 4 weeks after surgery. I'm on mt second round of steroids. Is this normal or should I change Cardiologists?

Hi Anonymous,
Steriod use is known to reduce the amount of inflammation and is pretty common with open heart surgery patients. If you question your treating Physician, I would certainly get a second opinion, especially when it somes to something like open heart surgery.

Please keep us posted.
