My bf and I had unprotected sex right atfer I just ended my period I took plan B pills and the next day I got my period again even though I just had it 3 days earlier. But now I still haven't gotten my period. Is it possible that I'm just late?

Can anyone please help me? I'm thinking I'm just going to get my period really late. Or is it possible that I am pregnant? Answers asap please.

Hi anonymous,
Yes, it is a side effect. This article will explain it in more detail. If you have more questions after reading it, let us know: Emergency Contraception Update, 2010.
Good luck, and let us know how you are doing.

I would like to thank you all for taking some of my fears away. I got my period yesterday, means....A week late than my regular period and almost a month after the date my "mini-period after taking plan b" started. I'll take care from now on. It's not worth it (the panic, the fear...) So now I know what that little pill can do to your system.
Again, thank you!

Hi Anonymous,
It is very common to have irregular periods after using Plan B for at least a couple cycles. Sore breasts is a common symtpom of pregnancy or a menstrual cycle. If you took a pregnancy test and it was negative, you should be safe.

If your period does not return to a normal cycle by next month, go to your physician. I hope this helps.

On janruary 2th I had sex and the condom broke so my boyfriend pulled out & came. An hour later I took plan B. A week later I had heavy bleeding, break through I'd assume, that lasted 4 days. Then on janruary 31st I had my regular period that lasted 6 days. It is now march 5th and I have not had my period, I have very swore boobs but not much cramping. Back On February 10th I took a pregnancy test to be sure & it was negative. I am still concerned I may be pregnant. Do I need to be worried? I'm thinking of taking another pregnancy test.

Hi everyone, I'm 20 years old and everyone's questions relate back to the same situation I was just recently in! I found it helpful when I read positive stories that people shared, so I hope this makes everyone's nerves go down. I'll break it all down..

January 27th: My period ended
January 28th: Has sex with my boyfriend, condom broke
January 29th: That morning we bought Plan B and took it immediately
January 29th-February 1st: No Plan B symptoms
February 2nd: I started to feel nauseous, vomited
February 3rd: I woke up with strong cramps that felt similar to menstrual cramps. Towards the afternoon, I started to experience spotting and bleeding. It was brown at first, and then started to become heavier and red, like a normal period. I was a little worried since my last period had JUST ended a week ago.
February 3rd-8th: The bleeding lasted like a normal period for me with normal period symptoms.

February 22nd was the date where my next period would have came if I wouldn't have taken Plan B. Last year I took Plan B and it didn't affect my period cycle at all, so I became worried about it not arriving yet. I read on various sites that Plan B sometimes delays a period by a week, sometimes two. It may also cause it to come early (maybe that's what happened to me, because of my period on 2/3/2011). On March 1st, I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative.. I was getting worried that Plan B failed because a period had not come yet, but I was experiencing symptoms of menstrual cramping since the 27th of February.

Today, March 3rd, 2011 I began what I believe is my next period! It makes sense to me since it's been exactly a month since my "other period" began. I am ALWAYS regular, it's been that way since I started to get my periods.

Being stressed out delays your period. I remember I was worried about having my period once for vacation and I kept stressing about it (I wasn't have sex at the time) and it delayed my period by a week because I was so worried. You must also remember Plan B is a dosage of TWO birth control pills. The effect it has on your hormones is unbelievable. All I can suggest is relax, if I have to buy and take a home pregnancy test, and wait.. your period will come when it's ready.

Hello,
Thank you very much for the info. It helped. I panicked, I got nervous and all. I'm supposed to have my period by now (monday) but it's not here. So, I went and got a pregnancy test. Just to ease my soul. Negative. I don't know if it's accurate already (it's been 3 weeks since the last sex intercourse) but since I'm a day late I guess it is accurate? I'll wait for my period this week and I'll take the test next week, just in case.

Hi anonymous888,
As missie said, it's not uncommon for emergency contraception to mess up your otherwise normal menstrual cycle. If you were expecting your period and didn't get it, haven't put yourself at further risk for pregnancy since taking emergency contraception, and the HPT turned up negative, it should be accurate.
For more information, please review this article: Emergency Contraception Update, 2010.
