I am 61 yrs. old and have had type 1 diabetes for 50 yrs. Is it safe for me to have the shingles vaccine, or am I considered to have a compromised immune system?

Hello Anonymous,

I do not think you have a compromised immune system because you have type 1 diabetes. Do check with your physician if there is any contraindication for getting the shingles vaccine.
