Over-the-counter treatments that may help control heartburn include:
-Antacids that neutralize stomach acid such as Maalox, Mylanta, Rolaids, and Tums, may provide quick relief.

Foods to avoid:
-Chocolate.
-Garlic, onions, and spicy foods.
-Caffeine.
-Mint.
