Guide

Hello. Thank you for your message.

Skin ulcers can be caused by prolonged periods of poor blood flow to an area of the body. This can occur as a result of infection, immobility, or conditions affecting the blood vessels like diabetes.  Symptoms include loss of the skin's outer layers, redness, and pain at the site of the ulcer.

Treatment includes keeping the wound moist and clean and taking care of any underlying condition. If the ulcer becomes infected, then antibiotics will be needed.   You should have these ulcers looked at by a doctor. If you have already done so, your doctor should have given you specific care instructions.
