I keep getting hip pain at night. It's so uncomfortable and the pain makes it very difficult to sleep. Is there anything I can do to help ease the pain at night? What can I do to get rid of my hip pain when it occurs at night?

Hello Beth,
I can appreciate your pain. Do you have hip pain only at night?
How long has this been going on? Do you experience pain in both hips or only one? Does the pain subside when you sleep on your back?
Hip pain results from damage to the hip joint-a ball and socket joint that connects the ball-shaped top of the leg bone (femur) to the hip socket. Damage to the hip joint results from a number of causes, including diseases such as osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, or injury from overuse or falling.
Investing in a new firm mattress may be a simple fix. But, the cause of your hip pain must be determined.
