First thing in the morning darker saliva

Hello
I’ve noticed that right when I wake up, not eaten anything etc. Spit just normal saliva into the sink, not phlegm or anything, it is a little darker in color.
Is that dangerous? I am worried.

Hello. Thank you for posting.

If you are not brushing your teeth and tongue before bed, the slightly darker color could be due to food residue.

Brown saliva can be a sign of a number of conditions, ranging from harmless to severe. Probably the most common cause of brown saliva is the presence of nicotine. Other possible cause can be acid reflux.
