Every year my doctor gives me a refraction test. I don't know I've had this test u till I'm at the checkout windows. I'm told that Dr. Requires this test. My insurance dose not cover it. Please tell me if this is required and why. I am in my 60s and my husband is on his early 70's. Thanks

Hello Anon
Thank you for writing.
This test is a vision test - you would know you are getting one - you read off charts etc to test your vision. Usually adults over 60 get one every two years. The doctor may have a policy of this being done annually but you don't have to do it. Next time, refuse and tell him your insurance doesn't cover it. You should be told beforehand about this. Best,
Susan
