eye pain after lipoma removal

My boyfriend just had a lipoma removed from the side of his forehead today. It has been about 6 hrs since the procedure and the doc told him he would have a splitting headache tonight. He tells me that it feels like somebody has ahold of his eyeball and either pulling it or pushing it. The lipoma was deep and the doc told him he could see his skull post removal. Also he had to cut a nerve that was supplying sensation to his forehead. What is causing this eye pain?

Anon,

Your boyfriend is probably suffering pain from a couple of different things. One is just simply the cuts and incisions needed to do the surgery -- think about how much it hurts even to cut ourselves in a small way, and then multiply that by the major surgery your boyfriend had. And then since your doctor had to cut a nerve, that may be causing extra pain as well. Nerve pain can be a stabbing, sharp pain that almost feels like a burn it's so intense.

Is your boyfriend better today? Did the doctor give him pain medicine, and is he taking it?
