Q:

Do my eyes look jaundiced

I went to the er 4 days ago with RUQ pain and they did an ultrasound and CT scan even though I have a history of Celiac. The US found edema on my left hepatic vein which was concurred in the ultrasound though they told me it was not the cause of the pain. They blamed it on my Celiac and gave me hydrocodone for the pain. My bilirubin was .9 that night. Now I am terrified I have liver problems and that the pain pills will make it worse.

Hi, Anon.

Thank you for posting.

There is slight pale yellow around the rim, but not the whites of the eye from I can see. We can't say if this is jaundice or not. Make an appointment with your primary care doctor, which is usually what the ER doctor will recommend after an emergency room visit. Taking the pain medication is up to you and how much pain you are in. Did you tell the ER doctor about your concerns? If not, contact him for reassurance it's ok to take them.
