Q:

Chlamydia - reinfected?

Two weeks ago I was treated for chlamydia and then one week later my boyfriend was treated, however on the third day of his treatment we had sex. Is it likely that I have been reinfected? Or what should I do about this, should I go back and do another test or will they just give me the antibiotics again?

Thanks!

Hi, Anon.

Thank you for your post.

You can be re-infected with chlamydia. Prior episodes of chlamydia infection offer no protection. Re-infection is very common, especially when a partner is not fully treated. You may want to check in with your doctor, as your partner is only 3 days into his course of treatment.
