The problem is not chinese food, it is what ingredients are used. If a dish is made with fish sauce, shellfish, beef, and/or derivatives of "lesser" parts of animals (same stuff that is in hot dogs and meat sausages), you may inflame your gout. Next time, ask what ingredients are used, and enjoy your tour of the kitchen.

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing!

Are you talking about home-made Chinese food like people eat in China? Or from a Chinese restaurant? In general, in the States, most take out Chinese food is junk food and filled with fat and salt - this is not considered healthy food and may contribute to a gout flare.

Best,
Susan
