Can loss of melanin in your skin be reversed

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER.

Melanin is a dark brown to black pigment occurring in the hair, skin, and iris of the eye in people. It is responsible for tanning of skin exposed to sunlight.

Vitiligo is caused by a loss of pigment in the skin, due to destruction of pigment-forming cells known as melanocytes.

The cause of the loss would need to be identified before it can be said if it can be reversed.

Regards,
Maryann
