Same thing just happened to my mom. She is 93 - in amazingly good health. She got her first flu shot ever on Friday and on Monday broke out with a shingles rash. She is taking Valtrex for 7 days and using calamine lotion to dry the rash. Seems like lots of coincidences!

I also had the flu shot last year in 2010, and that very night I developed shivering chills, like flu symptoms, and the next day a severe headache. I had also nausea, and started develolping a light fever. Then 2 days later I noticed a bump on my forehead which got worse and more painful. I went to the doctor who thought it might be shingles, and told me to come back in two days. Ater 2 days of the pain becoming more and more unbearable, and more red blister like bumps appeared on my face, he confirmed the diagnosis and started me on anti viral meds. I thought there might have been a connection to the flu shot , but my doctor said no way. Still in the back of my mind I've wondered, and now this year I'm debating whether or not to take it, especially since I'm pregnant, and it's recommended. If anyone has any advice or knowledge on this, I would appreciate it.

I would like to know if there are any cancer patients, who took the flu shot, developed Shingles shortly afterwards and became paralyzed in less than a month later. This happened to my mother during September/October, 2009. Thanks

42 Male, got shingles three days after I got Flu shot.
It's ironic that I was not willing to get the shot, my doctor talked me into it.
Had chickenpox in childhood.

Thanks to those who suggested we report these flu-shot/shingles instances. I just did to http://vaers.hhs.gov/index . Took me about ten minutes. Maybe this will help.

Thanks for posting this link. I reported the case of shingles my husband got after a flu shot a few months ago. I didn't get (and really didn't expect) a reply, but I felt like I needed to let them know about it. My husband (41 year old) got ocular shingles and it still bothers him. Also since this time I have talked to a whole bunch of folks that have come down with shingles and though they hadn't made the connection themselves, many remembered that the case of shingles came shortly after getting a flu shot (usually within a week of getting the shot).

I had a flu shot on December 18 2010 and was diagnosed with shingles on January 15, 2011. I only thought of a possible connection to the flu shot because I talked to a friend today who had shingles twice - both times 32 days after getting a flu shot. She has a compromised immune system from chemo treatments. I am an overwise very healthy woman of 61.

This is my first time on this site. Does anything happen from these posts?

I am a healthy 27 year old, i had the flu jab in November and within a couple of weeks i was diagnosed with shingles. I refuse to believe that this is not linked.
