What is this? is this going to be menstruation for the month of November? My next due date is 21/22. Am I going to get my period by then? I am kind of freaking out. help please.

Here is information from Drugs.com: Some women may experience spotting a few days after taking Next Choice and menstrual bleeding patterns are often irregular. Not everyone will experience spotting. Not everyone gets all the side effects with Next Choice or any medication for that matter. If there is a delay in the onset of your period beyond one week, then consider the possibility of pregnancy.

Will everyone have this random bleeding after taking Next Choice? I took it 5 days ago, did everything correctly, and have had no bleeding to speak of. I felt very sick and vomitted all day about 2-3 days after taking it though. I'm just worried because I read about everyone having a little bleeding after they take it, and I have none. Should I just wait until my normal period time to see if I have it?

On Friday the 16th of Sep, 2011, we also had sex and i also took two tablets of the emergency contraceptive. On Sunday the 17th o Sep, 2011, i saw brownish kinda blood in my pants and the next day Monday 19th Sep, 2011 i started bleeding as against the 30th of Sep 2011 which i am suppose to start my period. It seems like my period cuz it lasted for four(4) days which is normal and it was kinda a normal flow. Now am scared that i might be pregnant cuz i am suppose to see my next period on the 16th of October 2011(28 days) but it hasn't come. Please i need help. Am i pregnant? Dear Anonymous,

What you are experiencing is a side effect of your Emergency Contraceptive. Please read side effects on Plan B here:
http://planbonestep.com/plan-b-faq.aspx
or Next choice: http://mynextchoice.com/

I hate to be rough on you, but at 23 you should be more responsible when having sex. Two doses of Emergency Contraceptives less than a week apart is very irresponsible. Use a condom, take birth control pills, or find another method of birth control. Plan B and Next Choice are not methods of birth control-- they are meant for Emergencies.

Good Luck,

Rosa

Dear Rosa,
Thanks for your advice. I know it was irresponsible of me to have taken two doses of emergency contraceptive a week apart. It won't happen again and my boyfriend and i have decided to go on birth control pills. I have read the side effects on plan b and i hope and pray i scale through this. Anywayz i bought a pregnancy test tube yesterday and i tested it on my self this morning and it was negative but am still awaiting my period. Some articles i read stated that you can only get accurate result if you test yourself after a week or two weeks you missed your period. I still hope to test again next week if i don't see my period though am still scared. Please hope am on the right track? Pls enlighthen me more to avoid panic. Thank you so much as i await your prompt response

You do not have to wait two weeks after missing your period to get an accurate result. If your period is already late, you should get an accurate positive or negative.

Hi Anonymous,
You should be fine since that is the prupose. You should start bleeding or it may take a while for you to bleed. Honestly, I have heard of both as each individual reacts to the pill differently. You should be safe.

At this point, you will have to wait for a missed period, then take a pregnancy test. If you start bleeding, this is a good sign of not being pregnant.

Good luck,
Missie

Me and my boyfriend were having sex at 2am on the morning of the 15th. The condom broke, and this is supposedly when I'm suppose to be ovulating. If I took the first pill of Next Choice at 930 that morning, then the next one 12 hours later, what are the chances that it will work? Is Next Choice just as effective when the girl is very fertile and ovulating? Or does it lower the effectiveness? I am hoping that pregnancy will not result, because I did everything correctly that I know of. How soon should I expect to bleed out the uteran lining? Will it come with my normal period, or should it come earlier? Thanks in advance for your response!

In general, whenever taking a medication whether it be a prescription drug or an over-the-counter medication such as Next Choice, read the package insert. This includes important information such as reported side effects. Side effects may include nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, headache, changes in your period, dizziness, and breast tenderness.
Thank you for your question.
