Is it normal for a boil to get hard and turn black? I put a bandaid on it and when i checked it again, it had popped and was really bloody. My boyfriend pulled the core out and we treated it with peroxide and neosporin. It bled alot and the hole was real deep.

This could be a sign that you have high sugar levels. You would need to test your sugar levels.

This happened to me before years ago on my leg and the doctor suggested a whirlpool bath with Epsom salt. The hole in my leg which was causing me a great deal of pain eventually closed in 2-3 days. The black scar still remained but I have been using a homemade mix of tea tree oil, cocoa and shea butters which have returned the skin back to normal some what.

Most recently I developed a painful boil on my butt which burst and bled. Because of the trauma of sitting on the wound it made a hole a few centimeters deep. I cleaned the wound, removing yellowish/grayish puss with a sterile gauze dipped in iodine. I sprayed an antibacterial antiseptic spray and covered the wound with a gauze with neosporin for one day changing the bandages regularly. Once the wound no longer bled profusely about 2 days in, I filled a tub with very warm water with about a 1/2 cup Epsom salt and soaked for 20 min to start the healing process and close the hole on my butt cheek. I started soaking 2-3 times per day on a Friday and by Monday the wound had scabbed over. I put my homemade ointment of tea tree oil and Shea butters to fight discoloration and was bandage free by Wednesday.

I also had a boil come up under my arm. It popped and drained a lil. I put a bandaind and antibiotic ointment on it. The next day it was black inside. A friend said it would ester up again and finish draining but instead it closed up and still has redness around it and a lump under it? Help???

I had a boil and it popped. But now the hole is white it looks like it's packed with gauge. Why is that and what should I do?

Anonymous,

I don't want to scare you-- but you need to go to the doctor or hospital if you had a boil that turned black. This could be a staph infection or it can be (MRSA) Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus.

Please cover the area where the boil burst, don't let anyone touch it, and go to the doctor immediately.

Best of luck,

Rosa

Just to update you. The boil is healing and almost gone. I put a band aid on it before it popped and when i took the band aid off, my skin came off and left a sore. The sore is more a problem now than the boil. Then I treated the sore with neosporin and covered it. Took that band aid off and pulled off more of my skin on my stomach. Why?? I have never had this problem before/

Dear Anonymous,

You need to see a doctor about this boil-- it is not a good idea to keep poking at it.

Good Luck,

Rosa
