I have had my IUD in for seven years; I went to get removed at the 5 year mark, but was informed it was good for another two. I have been with my fiancee for 5 years and my sex drive has been damn near non existent. It has caused many issues between us, but we were able to keep it up at least twice a week; but not because I wanted to. I would be repulsed half the time when he kissed me or tried to rub me in certain places. He is very attractive and loves me alot. I tried to have my it removed 6 months ago and they couldn't get it out, so they scheduled an ultrasound to make sure it wasn't embedded; it was not. Finally yesterday due to scheduling issues; I got it out. I feel free in a big way. I wish everyone

I just had the mirena removed and my tubes tied. I had all the same issues as what everyone else is having here. I'll post how I feel in a month, it's only been a couple of days, but I feel a weight lifted from my shoulders. I will never recommend mirena for anyone! It almost destroyed my marriage from lack of sexy drive and lack of wanting to be close to my husband. It destroyed my mental health. It's a horrible thing!

I'm only 25 and me and my husband are having very bad arguments because of it.

I had the mirena for two years. The first four months I was always spotting and cramping. Then after I was ok until the beginning of this year. My sex drive became non existent. I became extremely, tired, irritable and gained A lot of weight besides being bloated and having bad acne.
Finally, this September I had it remove and feel somewhat better but not even At 50% of how I was. I have no desire to have sex and I'm tired and am bloated and feel so overweight. I feel bad that my sex drive is non existent being I had a very healthy sex drive and felt great up until last year. Is anyone feeling like me?

I had terrible mood swings and absolutely no sex drive, I stumbled upon this page and decided to remove it. It's been a few months now and the sex drive still hasn't fully recovered... I feel a little dissapointed but according to some stories on this page, it can take up to a year to retreive your "before the mirena"-status. So there's still hope ;) I did got rid of those terrible mood swings after the first month I removed it though, so there is already some approvement!

So, I'm really not crazy! I've had my mirena for 6 yrs....and I can honestly say, I don't remember what it feels like to have a sex drive. I thought there was something wrong with me. I love my boyfriend very much, but only have sex to make him happy. And it's as dry as a desert down there! Plus...I have gained about 50 lbs in the past 6 years....no matter how hard in try, I can't lose weight. I honestly believe that it's because of the Mirena. Definitely time to get it out!

Same thing here, except I gained 100 pounds! Just had it out 9/8/15 & out of nowhere on 10/3/15 I liked sex again, my husband is sooo happy, we were really just roommates the past 6 years with weekly benefits for his happiness only. I am hoping I can manage to lose this weight because no master what I did while on this bc from hell nothing worked and my doctor kept telling me to go to weight watchers!

Ok guys,Im a male here on the other side of the problem.I applaud all of you for actually making the decision to remove it,but my lady has had hers for 5 years and wont take it out till 7 bc she sees europe leaves it in that long. She will not go to the dr,she will not try any kind of suppliment she just tells me she doesnt like sex anymore and when it comes up almost leaves me over it.I only want to help her I mean of course Im a guy and I need sex but this has gotten deeper with mood swings and just refusing to admit theres a problem.I truly love my lady and I dont want her to leave me but she is so agitated about sex, hates it,we used to have the best ever!Could anybody give me any ideas or resources I can show her to make her believe this can be fixed and it IS the stupid ring.

I'm European and the doctor told me to leave it in for a maximum of five years - NOT seven! However, I had it removed after 2 because all of the problems I had with it and I (as well as my boyfriend) feel waaaay better now. Show her this page and hopefully she'll understand that it's for her own good. Best of luck.
