Q:

Anyone successfully tried hormone or other therapies to shrink fibroid tumours?

I have 2 large fibroid tumours in my uterus and several ovarian cysts. I have been told my only option is hysterectomy. I would like to see if anyone has tried anything else and what was the outcome? I am on estrogen reducer to help stop bleeding and possibly shrink fibroids to prepare for surgery. Gynaecologist says I shouldn't wait the time it would take to try to shrink the fibroids naturally and that the cysts won't go away on their own (may be Myomas?) I also do have some pain because of this as well, which has disrupted my life, but a hysterectomy would also cause pain for a long time and affect my daily life for many weeks. Help!

Hello and welcome to EmpowHer,
I highly suggest that you see several different gynecologists in order to get different perspectives and opinions. One doctor may suggest a hysterectomy but another doctor may be a better or different option.
It is true the holistic treatments for fibroids take time. However, the removal of the uterus can cause additional problems and side effects that are sometimes harder to treat that the original fibroid.
So, before undergoing a hysterectomy, it would be best to talk to other doctors and discuss possibilities such as minimally invasive procedures like UAE to laparoscopic, fibroid removal and open surgeries.
Below I have pasted a link to a HerArticle. The second half of the article lists possible treatments.

Empower has many articles on uterine fibroids so feel free to use the search bar above to search for the articles.
