Hello martagirl,

Acetaminophen can relieve the pain but does not reduce inflammation. It is more effective in treating mild to moderate pain. Taking more than the recommended dosage can cause liver damage.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) reduce inflammation and relieve pain. They can cause stomach upset, ringing in the ears, cardiovascular problems, bleeding problems, and liver and kidney damage.

Exercise can help reduce osteoarthritis symptoms. Gentle exercises, such as walking, biking or swimming, increase your endurance and strengthen the muscles around your joints, making the joints more stable.

Physical therapy strengthens the muscles around your joint, increases the range of motion in your joints and can reduce the pain associated with osteoarthritis.

Please keep us updated on your progress and what remedies help you cope with the pain.

Regards,

Maryann
