The evidence suggests a period:
1. Bleeding for 8 days (it is the absence of a period that could indicate a period)
2. Bleeding at the time you expected your period...it would be a period

Please know that if you do not want to be pregnant at this time...use birth control so you don't have the stress of wondering if you are pregnant...when you get your period, this should end your stress of worrying about pregnancy. I understand it was different than usual, but periods can change for no "apparent" reason, and a lighter period is still a period.
