That does not sound stupid at all! I was just wondering, because it sounds like it would hurt quite a bit to have a tampon inside during sex.

Can you at least keep a few condoms nearby (and, have your boyfriend do so as well?). I can't tell you the number of times college students would tell me that they "weren't going to do it again" and "wait until they are married", but then the heat of the moment gets to them, and they are unprepared (no condoms). When you are in the heat of the moment, it is easy to rationalize "if we do it while I'm on my period, I won't get pregnant" or "if we just stick it in, stick it out, it won't count"...that kind of thinking can cause quite a bit of worry and stress for the next few weeks. We would love to prevent this stress and worry, and since you are sexually active (meaning: engaging in sexual behaviors, not only intercourse), it is such a good idea just to have a condom in your room/apartment/dorm. If you never use it, GREAT! If you need it..at least it's there.
