Wow..I'm sorry you went through all of this pain and traumatic emergency surgery! How are you feeling now?
Just to make sure I have the information related to your pregnancy-related question correct: you had your last period on March 30th, and have been using the pill, most recently, for about a month (it is now May 6). You missed two pills, but not in-a-row, on April 19 and April 24.
You were expecting your next period on April 28th, and I assume you had unprotected sex with your husband after March 30th?
You said you did not "double-up" on taking the missed pills, but did you use back-up method of birth control (condom) since you decided not to double-up on the pills?
Anytime you miss pills, there is an increased chance of pregnancy. Usually the patient information for your specific pill will provide instructions that if you miss one pill, to take it as soon as you remember and that back-up method of birth control is not needed. However, since you chose not to take the missed pill at all, then there is an increased chance of pregnancy since your body did not receive the regular dose of hormones. (If you DID take the pills you missed, your chances of pregnancy would be much lower).
Did you know that "doubling up" does not mean you need to take both pills at the same time? You can take the one you missed from the previous night as soon as you remember, say with breakfast, then take that day's pill at the regular time, say with dinner or before bed.
You can take a home pregnancy test once you've missed your period, with fairly accurate results.
Please let us know what the results say, and we can help you either way!
