You aren't really late for a period, so give it another week. Are your periods usually regular, and if so, how long are your cycles (counting from "day 1" of the first day of your period to the day-before your next period; most women's cycles are between 21-35 days long).
The withdrawal method is about 75-80% reliable in preventing pregnancy, compared with 98-99% when using condoms and hormonal contraception (the pill, for instance). If you would have a "heart attack" from being pregnant, it would be wise to use a more effective form of birth control in the future...have you or your boyfriend talked about this?
