I actually think that really was what happened in my case, that the nurse gave me the shot too high. I showed her the spot I received the shot last year, and I knew at the moment I received the shot that it didn't "feel right"...and I've had a flu shot every year that I can remember without any pain.
I am so sorry you are experiencing this pain...it is frustrating and my shoulder/arm pain took 3 months to begin feeling normal again.
I did get another flu shot, and spoke with the nurse about it before...she gave the shot lower in my arm and it feels perfectly fine, so I am very glad I got the flu shot this year! (I am also pregnant, and therefore "high risk", so it was strongly recommended in my case).
