Glow in the Dark Pill Bottle Caps--What Will They Think of Next?

Rate This

As seniors become more tech savvy, a company called Vitality has begun offering pill bottle caps that connect to the internet via cellular phone technology. The pill caps offer a variety of reminders including audio and visual ones as well as phone call reminders and text messages. Vitality GlowCaps provides a good solution for medication management, an important care component for aging in place.

At $10 per cap with a $15 per month data subscription, Vitality GlowCaps will remind its owner via lights and sounds when it’s time to take the medication and provides a link to send data to a doctor or caregiver to ensure that pills are supposedly taken. The downsize to this technology is that it cannot verify that the medication was actually taken. The caps are enabled to automatically send for prescription refills as the bottle gets low ensuring that there is no interruption in treatment.

For Last month, the company began offering AT&T-connected
Vitality GlowCaps on Amazon. Just one more example of corporate America jumping on the "old folks" gravy train!
