Non-surgical beauty treatments have become more popular than ever due to new technology, according to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. While well-known minimally invasive treatments are drastically improving, some new procedures have surfaced in the world of non-surgical cosmetic beauty in 2015 as well.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons states that there were 14.2 million minimally invasive cosmetic procedures performed in 2015. With non-surgical cosmetic treatments on the rise and seriously trending, it’s a no-brainer as to why giving the gift of beauty this holiday season would be a hit.
So, what’s the most popular? What would your bestie want?
Here’s the ultimate guide to gifting someone with a cosmetic non-surgical treatment.
The ASPS has narrowed down an exclusive list of the five most popular treatments from 2015. From most favored to least was Botox, soft tissue fillers, chemical peels, laser hair removal and microdermabrasion.
Let’s delve into the specifics of each of these treatments to find out why and how they would make the perfect gift this holiday season.
1) Botox
Consider treating the stressed-out friend in your life who’s totally starting to freak out about wrinkles to the most popular treatment of them all — Botox. Botox temporarily puts the muscles underneath the facial skin at ease, smoothing out wrinkles with a few injections.
The whole procedure is accomplished within a matter of minutes, and patients begin to see results within three to seven days.
Since non-surgical treatments aren’t everlasting, a return visit to the trained professional for more injections may be in order when wrinkles start to appear again. Keeping wrinkles away will require injections every three to six months. They may be able to be done less often afterwards.
This procedure is FDA-approved to successfully treat problems with excessive sweating as well as migraines.
2) Soft Tissue Fillers
Know someone who shells out way too much money on anti-aging serums? We all do! Gifting that special someone with a soft tissue filler treatment could be a real present this holiday season. Soft tissue fillers are a minimally invasive treatment.
Soft tissue fillers go to work by adding volume to the skin and filling in wrinkles to create a youthful and glowing appearance. However, soft tissue fillers don’t stop there. This procedure is also used to plump up lips, which has been all the rage in the celebrity world.
If you know someone who suffers from acne scars, soft tissue fillers can help take care of them and improve their skin’s overall appearance. The procedure involves a series of injections in the target areas.
Some patients may experience stinging during the injections, but most patients only feel minimal discomfort. All soft tissue fillers provide a temporary effect and many patients find themselves go for another treatment after three months. Some fillers can have lasting effects for up to two years.
3) Chemical Peel
We all want healthier looking skin. Taking a friend on a spa date for a chemical peel might do just the trick! Damaged skin cells can cause a dull complexion. A chemical peel fights off damaged skin cells when the solution is applied to the skin. It takes about 15 minutes to apply the chemical peel solution and it is common to feel sensations of stinging and irritation.
A chemical peel results in the top layer of skin peeling off and revealing a beautiful, healthier layer of skin. Getting the best results will require a series of chemical peels. It is safe to get this procedure done every few weeks until you are totally satisfied.
4) Laser Hair Removal
Dealing with unwanted body hair can be annoying and sometimes it’s painful. Laser hair removal removes body hair with a powerful, pulsating laser beam.
This treatment has specifically been trending amongst males to take care of problem areas such as hairy backs and shoulders. The effects of this treatment are also pretty long-lasting as well, which definitely makes this choice of non-surgical procedure an excellent gift option.
Laser hair removal would be a great gift for someone who will be vacationing somewhere tropical and wants to confidently show some skin.
5) Microdermabrasion
This treatment is similar to a chemical peel and is the perfect gift for someone that spends a hefty amount on skin care products. During this procedure, a rotating brush or wheel is used to exfoliate tired looking skin.
Nicknamed the “power peel,” this procedure does it all by taking care of wrinkles, creases, skin pigmentation and even sun damage. Once the procedure is finished, your skin might feel and look like you have a sunburn. However, your skin will feel better in 24 hours or so.
For many patients, it can take up to 10 appointments, a few weeks apart, until you start seeing a real difference in your new, refreshed skin.

I was thinking of having a peel actually. I just might do it. A bit of refreshing the skin can't hurt. A friend and I were talking about skin treatments just the other day, too.
