In answer to rmckt01:-
I am 61 years of age - I have RA and Fibromyalgia and a number of other conditions - I had Carpal Tunnel surgery back in 1976, on both hands. The extreme pain and discomfort I experienced prior to this surgery was horrendous - I could not sleep, could not find anywhere to "Put" my hands at night. They were so sore I had to stop doing a lot of things. The surgery was done here in Australia, and was very successful - it took a while to get over it, as I had very little support during the recovery from my (then) husband so found it incredibly difficult to manage with both hands out of action - but the results were worth it. I cannot speak for you, as I do not know whether it will help you at all, but it did help me. As I am now taking Sulfasalazine for RA, it has been really beneficial. I no longer take an hour to get out of bed, the terrible stiffening has lessened a great deal. I am so tired, though - which may be from the RA and/or Fibromyalgia, I don't know - but exhaustion defeats me. I find that sleeping during the day, "Granny-napping" is essential, and keeping off my feet, both these are vital. If I am too tired, the pain and stiffness overwhelms me, in spite of the medication I take. Good luck!
