Did you require a D&C?

Did you have a D&C? How long did you have to wait? Did your body expel the embryo/fetus naturally?

Sounds like you had a great doctor.

The recovery nurses were actually very nice, as was the intake nurse who intervened at the front desk to save me from a rather grumpy one.

All in all, it was a very positive medical procedure for me. I will never know precisely why I miscarried. I suspect it was due to hormones and perhaps having just come of 7 years of birth control and probably the effects that had on my body. But it's only a guess.

Thank you for joining us, Rosa, and sharing your story.

Hi Darlene,

Thank you so much for starting this group!

I had a miscarriage in 2007 and had absolutely no symptoms of a miscarriage-- or any symptoms at all for that matter. I had a D&C after my OB/GYN concluded that I had miscarried due to chromosomal abnormalities. It was a very painful time in my life but I am so grateful that she tested and tested my hormone levels, performed ultrasound after ultrasound and she genuinely cared. The entire process took about 2 weeks for her to be sure that I did in fact miscarry-- she did warn me from day one that if I saw any blood at all, to go to the Emergency Room immediately due to the risk of hemorrhaging.

I did lose a lot of blood during the procedure and stayed in the hospital over night. My doctor asked for a room for me in women's services--it's in the same floor as the the mother/baby unit but on the opposite side--where I wouldn't hear the cry of a newborn.

I think she made a big impact in my recovery because she was not only my OB/GYN she was a wonderful support and always kept me informed. Unfortunately, miscarriages are sometimes inevitable but having a doctor who is informative and genuine can truly help us understand why they happen.

Best,

Rosa
