Q:

How did you decide to become a plastic surgeon?

A:

I originally wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon. I shadowed an orthopedic surgeon and quickly I found that it felt cookie cutter to me and didn’t take advantage of my creativity. I knew that was not for me. Someone talked to me about the creativity needed to be a plastic surgeon, and I found mentors in this field, and it was perfect! I’ve never looked back. I love what I do.

Q:

What drives you?

A:

It’s a mix of the surgical and helping patients. Also it’s also about creating my brand. I think that once you create a powerful platform, it can be used for so many things. Whether that is bringing in more patients, whether it’s fundraising, whether it’s disseminating legit information, creating that brand of yourself and that good reputation is powerful. That is exciting to me.

Q:

What are your favorite surgeries and treatments?

A:

I really like doing Mommy Makeovers because those patients are realistic; they are good people; they are not under some external pressure. They just want to do it for themselves, and it can really improve a mom’s self-confidence. I am a mom, so I can relate to those people the most. That is my favorite surgery. That includes vaginal rejuvenation, so I always call it breast, belly and below.

As far as the non-surgical stuff, helping someone with their skin is also very powerful, especially if it’s something they have been self-conscious about for a long time. Similarly, miraDry for the underarm sweating and for people who have hyperhidrosis is life changing for them.

Q:

What are the concerns you are most hearing from women?

`

A:

Acne scarring, melasma and sun damage. By sun damage, I mean brown spots and wrinkles.

Q:

You are working with a new microneedling device. How is it going?

A:

It’s been going really, really well. I think we’ve treated 20 people with The Vivace since we got it two to three weeks ago. I’ve been getting text messages from my patients the next day wanting me to see how their skin looks. This is so amazing! I really like how there is no downtime. So it’s a very easy thing to convince people to try. We’ll share with them, your skin is going to look amazing, it’s long lasting and there’s no downtime. So, there really is no excuse. Who doesn’t want to look amazing!
